Greek Flag

Greece is a country on the SE corner of Europe.  It’s situated on the southern end of the Balkan Peninsular.  Greece has land borders with Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria (N) … Turkey (E).   The Aegean Sea lies to the east of mainland Greece, the Ionian Sea (W) and the Mediterranean (S).

Greece consists of a vast number of islands (approximately 1400, of which 227 are inhabited).  Eighty percent of Greece consists of mountains.

It has a population of 11,295,002 … at the last count?

Yeh, I like Greece!  The people are happy and helpful and the women are gorgeous.  It’s expensive and being a member of the EU (European Union) its currency is the Euro

You have to keep reminding yourself that every time you spend a Euro you are burning AU$1.40 (2010) … so watch out.  A simple coffee and crepe cost me €8.00 … in September, 2010 that converted to AU$11.25 … that’s too high for my budget.

At the time of writing (September, 2010) I was preparing to settle down to try to live through my first European winter onboard Déjà vu … BUT, I’m very apprehensive.  There’s a chance someone may find me frozen to the galley sink one day … as it’s getting COLD!

There will be a lot more to read (with photos) about Greece … in the main section of this site!
